Canada Carpenter

Canadian home-building companies are currently looking for carpenters to work in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Competencies required
Formal training as a carpenter through a recognized post secondary training institution is preferred but not required.
At least one year of previous experience as a carpenter in a residential or commercial construction environment.

Conversational English (an applicant should be capable to handle the interview with the employer without an interpreter)

Company offers
40 working hours per week
Salary: starting with $17 CAD/hour, overtime is paid 1.5 higher
Accommodations are provided by the employer but paid for by the candidate

Key responsibilities

Study blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout, determine dimensions and types of materials required.

Select and cut materials according to project specifications using hand and power tools.

Build, install and erect floor beams, wall framing, roof trusses, and sheet sub-floor and roof.

Install structures and fixtures such as windows, frames, doors, sashes, interior trim, flooring (hardwood, tile) and hardware.

Cut materials and assemble various cabinet component parts utilizing a variety of hand and power tools and other woodworking equipment.

Install completed cabinetry.

Apply vapour barrier, insulation and finish interior walls, ceiling, and roof using materials specified for the project.

Ability to install drywall boarding and tape over joints using taping machine, fill all joints, bail / screw indentations, holes and cracks using appropriate material would be viewed as an asset.

Install concrete siding to the exterior walls.

Caulk all seam, cracks, and joints to prevent leakage.

Maintain records, document actions and present reports as required by the employer.

Wear and use approved safety equipment required by the specific task.

Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
